The Church Part 1 THE BODY OF CHRIST

The Church Part 1 THE BODY OF CHRIST

THE BODY OF CHRIST

There is nothing average about the church!

Acts 3:1-10
1 Now Peter and John were going up to the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth hour. 2 And a man lame from birth was being carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple that is called the Beautiful Gate to ask alms of those entering the temple. 3 Seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple, he asked to receive alms. 4 And Peter directed his gaze at him, as did John, and said, “Look at us.” 5 And he fixed his attention on them, expecting to receive something from them. 6 But Peter said, “I have no silver and gold, but what I do have
I give to you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk!” 7 And he took him by the right hand and raised him up, and immediately his feet and ankles were made strong. 8 And leaping up he stood and began to walk, and entered the temple with them, walking and leaping and praising God. 9 And all the people saw him walking and praising God, 10 and recognized him as the one who sat at the Beautiful Gate of the temple, asking for alms. And they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.
Matthew 16:15-18
He said to them, "But who do you say that I am? "And Simon Peter answered and said, "Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God." And Jesus answered and said to him, "Blessed are you,Simon Barjona, because flesh and blood did not reveal [this] to you, but My Father who is in heaven. And I also say to you that you are Peter,
and upon this rock I will build My church; and the gates of Hades shall not overpower it."

When Jesus came into the world there existed no such thing as the Church.”

We are one body by FACT
The Church also called the Body of Christ. This term is used about 38 times in the New Testament to represent the church.

Ephesians 1:18-23
[I pray that] the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe. [These are] in accordance with the working of the strength of His might which
He brought about in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead, and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly [places], far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age, but also in the one to come. And He put all things in subjection under His feet, and gave Him as head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.
Ephesians 3:8-12
To me, the very least of all saints, this grace was given, to preach to the Gentiles the unfathomable riches of Christ, and to bring to light what is the administration of the mystery which for ages has been hidden in God, who created all things; in order that the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known through the church
to the rulers and the authorities in the heavenly [places.] [This was] in accordance with the eternal purpose which He carried out in Christ Jesus our Lord, in whom we have boldness and confident access through faith in Him.

We are His Body by FAITH

Colossians 1:13-20a
For He delivered us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, in
whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. And He is the image of the invisible God, the first-born of all creation. For by Him all things were created, [both] in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible,
whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities-- all things have been created by Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. He is also head of the body, the church;
and He is the beginning, the first-born from the dead; so that He Himself might come to have first place in everything. For it was the Father' good pleasure for all the fullness to dwell in Him, and through Him to
reconcile all things to Himself, We are one in Christ only as we are reconciled to the Father in the shed blood, the death, the resurrection of Jesus. Mankind must be brought back into right relationship with the creator
God! This can only be done as we are willing to die to this old life and be born again into a new life with Christ.

Acts 4:12 "And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men, by which we must be saved."

We are one body by FUNCTION

Romans 12:4-5
For just as we have many members in one body and all the members do not have the same function, so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.

We, the church, are created for a purpose. We have all been individually created with a part of the function and unless we all function in our parts we will have a crippled body.
