Death, Where Is Your Sting? | 1 Corinthians 15:35-58
What happens the moment we close our eyes for the last time? It is a question every human being carries, and 1 Corinthians 15 meets us right there in that uncertainty with breathtaking clarity. This passage walks us through one of the most profound promises in all of Scripture: that death is not a dead end but a doorway. Paul uses the image of a seed planted in the ground to reframe everything we think we know about dying. A seed looks like nothing when it goes into the earth, but what emerges is incomparably more glorious than what went in. Our bodies work the same way. What is sown perishable, weak, and marked by the weight of sin will be raised imperishable, powerful, and free. This is not a vague spiritual metaphor. It is a concrete promise rooted in the bodily resurrection of Jesus himself, who stands as the firstfruits of everything that is coming for those who follow him. The resurrection is not about escaping the physical world but about the redemption of it. God does not throw away what he has made. He redeems it, glorifies it, and makes it new. That truth alone has the power to change how we face suffering, loss, and our own mortality.
