Heaven Over Earth | Acts 22:22-23:11

This powerful exploration of Acts 22 takes us into one of the most dramatic moments in Paul's ministry, where he stands trial before both Roman authorities and Jewish religious leaders. What unfolds is a stunning reversal: the people who should have been representing God become the persecutors, while pagan Roman officials act more justly. We're confronted with a sobering truth about how easily religious zeal can become corrupted when we assume our will is God's will. The Jews' violent rejection of Paul's mission to the Gentiles reveals their spiritual blindness, while the Roman tribune's pursuit of truth, however imperfect, shows that justice can emerge from unexpected places. At the heart of this passage lies a critical question for us: are we truly seeking God's truth, or are we clinging to our traditions, prejudices, and comfortable assumptions? The message challenges us to examine whether we've taken on the role of judge when only God holds that position. Most profoundly, we see Paul walking in the literal footsteps of Jesus, facing the same steps, the same council, the same accusations. Yet Jesus spares Paul the full suffering because God's work through him wasn't finished. This reminds us that our citizenship belongs first to heaven's kingdom, and every earthly identity we hold is simply a tool to advance God's eternal purposes.
