We Need Each Other

What if the two most opposite-seeming attitudes in church life actually share the same root problem? On one end, there is the person who quietly wonders whether anyone would notice if they stopped showing up. On the other end, there is the person who believes everything would fall apart without them. These feel like opposite struggles, but they are not. Both reveal a distorted view of God and his design for the church. Drawing from 1 Corinthians 12, we are walked through Paul's powerful argument that God himself has arranged every member of the body with intention and wisdom. No one is here by accident. No one is optional. Paul's answer to division and arrogance in the Corinthian church was not a call to think more highly of ourselves or more humbly of ourselves. It was a call to think more clearly about God. When we see God correctly, we see his church correctly, and we begin to understand that every member has been placed exactly where he intended. The parts that seem weaker are described by Paul not as expendable but as indispensable. That word carries real weight, and it should reshape how we see ourselves and the people sitting around us every single week.
