The Death of Human Pride | 1 Corinthians 1:26-31
This message confronts one of the most uncomfortable truths we face as believers: we bring absolutely nothing to the table when it comes to our salvation. Drawing from 1 Corinthians 1:26-31, we're challenged to look honestly at who we were when God called us—not the educated elite, not the powerful influencers, not the socially prominent. We were ordinary, broken, and spiritually bankrupt. Yet this is precisely God's strategy. He intentionally chooses the foolish, the weak, the lowly, and the despised to accomplish His purposes, ensuring that no human being can boast in His presence. This isn't meant to discourage us but to liberate us from the exhausting performance of trying to prove our worth. The ground is level at the foot of the cross. Our salvation isn't a reward for our potential but a gift for the pitiful. When we grasp this reality, everything changes—we stop pretending to be perfect, we abandon our spiritual résumés, and we finally understand that Christ has become our wisdom, righteousness, sanctification, and redemption. The only boasting allowed in the kingdom is boasting about Jesus. This message strips away every reason we have to trust in ourselves so that we can fully trust in Him.
