But God Ephesians | Ephesians 2:1-7

This powerful exploration of Ephesians 2:1-7 confronts us with an uncomfortable truth: we were spiritually dead before Christ. Not mostly dead, not sick, but completely dead in our trespasses and sins. The text paints a stark picture of three evil forces that dominated our former lives - the course of this world with its cultural bandwagons and moral bankruptcy, the prince of the power of the air who shapes society's patterns, and our own corrupted desires that led us deeper into darkness. We weren't innocent people who made a few mistakes; we were children of wrath, carrying out evil desires, with seared consciences and diminished willpower. But then comes the most beautiful phrase in all of Scripture: 'But God.' These two words contain the entire gospel. While we were helpless and hopeless, God intervened with great love, great mercy, and great grace. He didn't just make us alive - He raised us up and seated us in heavenly places with Christ. This isn't a story of God rescuing drowning people; it's about God resurrecting the dead. The stakes couldn't be higher, and the rescue couldn't be more complete. This passage challenges us to examine whether our story matches this biography of every true Christian, and to respond with our soul, our life, our all.
