1. Creation is the Unique Work of God’s Word: A study of the creation account
causes us to pause at the use of the Hebrew word, “bara” – to create. This word is
unique in that its only subject in scripture is God.
2.The Word of God is the Only Basis for Faith
Romans 10:17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.
3. The Word and the Light and the Only Begotten are One
John 1:1-5 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. 4 In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men. 5 The Light shines in the darkness,
and the darkness did not comprehend it.
John 1:14 And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory,
glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.
John 8: 12 When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the
world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of
life.”
4. The Word of God Protects
Ephesians 6:12 For our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the world powers of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavens. 13 This is why you must take up the full armor of God, so that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and having prepared everything, to take your stand…Take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is God’s word.
I know you have all heard this before but lets remind ourselves that the only offensive part of the armor is the Sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God. Please remember this letter to the Ephesian Church was written sometime between 57 and 62 AD. He was not referring to this compilation of the written revealed Word of God we have today. All of the rest of the Armor is important, in fact you cannot have the the Spiritual understanding of the Word with out the helmet of salvation. Unless you have been born from above you will not have the Breast plate of Righteousness nor the belt of Truth nor the shield of Faith.
Luke 4:1-13 Then Jesus returned from the Jordan, full of the Holy Spirit, and was led by the Spirit in the wilderness 2 for 40 days to be tempted by the Devil. He ate nothing during those days, and when they were over, He was hungry. 3 The Devil said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, tell this stone to become bread.” 4 But Jesus answered him, “It is written: Man must not live on bread alone. (Duet 8:3)” 5 So he took Him up and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. 6 The Devil said to Him, “I will give You their splendor and all this authority, because it has been given over to me, and I can give it to anyone I want. 7 If You, then, will worship me, all will be Yours.” 8 And Jesus answered him, “It is written: Worship the Lord your God, and serve Him only.” (Duet 6:13) 9 So he took Him to Jerusalem, had Him stand on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down from here. 10 For it is written: He will give His angels orders concerning you, to protect you, 11 and they will support you with their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.” 12 And Jesus answered him, “It is said: Do not test the Lord your God.” (Duet 6:16) 13 After the Devil had finished every temptation, he departed from Him for a time.
Jesus was full of the Holy Spirit
This is what we are asked to be as we walk this Christ life we are told to be filled with the Holy Spirit, that we are the Temple of the Living God, that Jesus Dwells in us. in other words this statement could and should be made about us. He was full of the Holy Spirit. Now I know that there are times when that seems more of a reality than others but it is truth. It is what separates us from those that proclaim religion rather than relationship.
But Jesus answered him, “It is written: Man must not live on bread alone.”
“It is written: Worship the Lord your God, and serve Him only.”
“It is said: Do not test the Lord your God.”
All He used was Gods Word
God’s Word Protects as the Sword is wielded by the Spirit of God in you!
You must be born again!
